FAQ

FAQ

Q: Do I need an appointment?
A: Pine Lake Animal Hospital is on an appointment-only basis. We have morning appointments from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and afternoon appointments from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Saturday appointments are from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Q: What kind of payment plans are available?
A: Our clinic requires payment when services are rendered. This helps to keep your cost at a minimum. We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. We also offer CareCredit via a convenient online application process.

Q: What do I do if I have an emergency?
A: If the emergency occurs after regular office hours, we are fortunate to partner with Purdue North Central Veterinary Emergency Clinic. Located on PNC campus in Westville, Indiana, they are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can be contacted at (219) 785-7300.

Q: What do I need to do in order to groom or board my pets?
A: The hospital requires that all dogs must be current on DAPP, 4-way LEPTO, Rabies, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza vaccine. All cats must be current on FVRCP and Rabies. The owner must be able to show proof of vaccinations given by a licensed veterinarian.

Q: Why do I have to have a heartworm test if my dog is on a yearly heartworm preventative?
A: We follow the American Heartworm Society recommendations for yearly heartworm prevention and testing. No medication is 100% effective and drug failure can occur. We use the IDEXX 4DX Plus™ heartworm test which also screens for exposure to tick-borne diseases such as Lyme, Anaplasmosis, and Ehrlichia. As an added benefit, if you receive yearly heartworm tests and give Heartguard™ every 30 days all year long, the drug manufacturer, Merial™, offers a guarantee. If your dog tests positive, they will help pay for the heartworm treatment!

Q: What do you recommend for fleas?
A: Our clinic recommends a chewable flea and tick tablet called Nexgard™ that can be given once a month, year-round. We also carry Frontline Plus™ topical for dogs and cats.
